Der kosmopolitische Strand von Sifnos
Platis Gialos ist der lebhafteste und bestorganisierte Strand auf Sifnos. Sein Name bedeutet „breiter Strand“, denn seine lange, weite Küstenlinie bietet jedem Besucher reichlich Platz und Komfort.
Sehenswürdigkeiten & historische Orte
Nordöstlich von Platis Gialos liegt der Aspros Pyrgos, einer der 55 antiken Türme von Sifnos. Auch wenn er nicht für Besucher zugänglich ist, bleibt er ein wichtiges historisches Wahrzeichen der Insel.
Am Eingang der Bucht liegt die unbewohnte Insel Kitriani, auf der sich nur ein einziges Gebäude befindet – die Panagia Kiprianou (10.–11. Jh.). Sie ist die älteste Kirche von Sifnos, ein ruhiger, heiliger Ort, der sich harmonisch in die Landschaft einfügt.
Auf dem Weg nach Platis Gialos führt eine Abzweigung zur Kirche Panagia tou Vounou (1813). Eine der ältesten und schönsten Kirchen der Insel, erbaut an einem Punkt mit atemberaubendem Meerblick. Der Hof ist von Pinien beschattet und lädt zum Verweilen ein, während die untere Terrasse wie ein Balkon über der Ägäis thront – mit Blick auf Kitriani und die Bucht von Platis Gialos. Im Sommer finden hier kulturelle und musikalische Veranstaltungen statt – ein Erlebnis, das du dir nicht entgehen lassen solltest!

Platis Gialos ist einer der größten Sandstrände von Sifnos und bietet für jeden etwas:
- Familien: Flaches Wasser und feiner Sand machen einen Teil des Strandes ideal zum Spielen und Entspannen mit Kindern.

Wenn du gerne wanderst, führt ein Wanderweg von hier zur Bucht von Fykiada – ein wunderschöner Sandstrand, der nur zu Fuß oder per Boot erreichbar ist. Unterwegs kannst du an kleinen Buchten Halt machen und im klaren Wasser schwimmen.
